Privacy Policy
Comment Cleaner for Reddit ("the extension") is a browser extension that helps you overwrite and delete your own posts and comments on reddit.com. This policy explains what data the extension handles and how. In short: everything stays in your browser. The extension has no server, collects no analytics and sends your data to no one except reddit.com itself.
Data the extension handles
- Your Reddit account details – your username and the "modhash" anti-forgery token that Reddit returns to its own website. They are used only to list your posts and comments and to send edit and delete requests on your behalf. They are kept in memory while the extension page is open and are not stored.
- Your posts and comments – the text, title, date, subreddit, score and link of posts and comments you wrote. They are loaded from reddit.com, shown in the extension page and discarded when you close it.
- Reddit session cookies (only if you use "Sign in to a new account") – to let you
switch between several Reddit accounts without signing out, the extension saves the reddit.com
cookies of each account you add, together with its username, in
chrome.storage.local, which is local storage inside your browser profile. They are restored only to reddit.com when you switch accounts.
The extension never sees or stores your Reddit password. You always sign in directly on reddit.com.
Where your data goes
The extension communicates only with Reddit's own servers (old.reddit.com and
www.reddit.com), using the same requests the Reddit website makes when you browse it while
signed in. It does not send any data to the developer or to any third party. It contains no analytics,
tracking, advertising or remote code.
Sharing and sale of data
Your data is not sold, transferred or shared with anyone, is not used for advertising, and is not used to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes. It is used for no purpose other than the extension's single function: overwriting and deleting your own Reddit posts and comments.
Retention and deletion
- Loaded posts, comments and account details are held only in memory and disappear when you close the extension page.
- Saved account cookies remain in
chrome.storage.localuntil you remove the extension or clear the extension's data. Removing the extension deletes them. - Content you overwrite and delete with the extension is changed and deleted on Reddit and cannot be restored by the extension.
Security
Saved session cookies give access to the corresponding Reddit accounts. Anyone with access to your browser profile could use them, just as they could use your normal reddit.com sign-in. On a shared computer, sign out of Reddit (which invalidates the saved sessions) or remove the extension after use.
Permissions

Children
The extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly handle data of children under 13.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
